3D Character & Asset Pack for a Stylized Mobile Adventure Game

Client
A mid-sized studio working on a mobile adventure-platformer set in a sun-drenched, slightly surreal fantasy world. The project needed a main hero character, several interactable items, and modular world props โ€” all sharing one consistent art direction.

Project Overview

The client came to PWPlay with an ask: โ€œWe need a character players can connect with โ€” and a world that feels alive.โ€

We designed and built a full 3D hero character model with an iconic look and low-poly, painted aesthetic. Alongside that, we produced a starter pack of 25+ props to help the team block out their early levels with a visually cohesive feel.

This included:

  • Stylized terrain modules Interactive items (keys, crystals, levers)
  • World props (signposts, barrels, ruins)
  • Texture sheets and Unity prefab setup

Challenges & Production Notes

  • ๐Ÿงโ€โ™‚๏ธ Designing a hero character that was simple enough for mobile screens, yet expressive and animated

  • ๐Ÿงฑ Building modular props that could be used across many levels without repetition

  • ๐ŸŽฎ Matching the painterly style and color palette already explored in the 2D mockups

  • ๐Ÿ“ฒ Ensuring everything worked within Unityโ€™s Universal Render Pipeline (URP) and budget-friendly settings

  • ๐Ÿ” Creating reusable texture sheets and materials to reduce draw calls and loading times

We used Blender for modeling, ZBrush for subtle sculpt passes, and Substance Painter for texturing. We handed off Unity-ready FBX files and custom shaders to match the stylized lighting behavior.

Results

๐ŸŽจ Complete Visual Foundations

The client walked away with a full kit โ€” hero, world elements, and reusable assets โ€” that could be expanded as the game grew. They were able to start blocking and testing levels without waiting on placeholder art.

๐Ÿ”„ Optimized Workflow for In-House Use

Assets were delivered in prefab-ready formats with all naming conventions, materials, and shaders clearly documented. The game team could easily drag-and-drop everything into their existing Unity scene.

๐ŸŒ A Cohesive Universe

With a unified visual language from day one, the game world immediately felt believable and immersive. The character didnโ€™t just look good โ€” he belonged in the world.

๐Ÿค Creative Flexibility Preserved

We intentionally designed assets with just enough personality โ€” but left room for the client to expand them with VFX, skins, and additional narrative elements later in development.

Conclusion

For this adventure-platformer, PWPlay helped craft both the soul and the setting. The result wasnโ€™t just a pack of assets โ€” it was a world with weight, personality, and playability. By focusing on stylization, scalability, and storytelling, we delivered a hero players would remember โ€” and a world they’d want to explore.
